What is a Grom?

A Grom, or Grommet is originally a young surfer under the age of 16. This term has expanded into other extreme sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding.

Here at Fistral Beach, it’s definitely used to identify our young and keen surfers!

Fistral Beach Groms Club is a well established surf club for any child age 8 and above, who’s keen to progress in their surfing.

Here at Fistral Beach Groms Club we coach small groups, providing coaching to beginner to intermediate Groms.

This year, 2021, we’re very excited to expand our Club from not just here on Fistral beach but also across at Tolcarne Beach, with the plan to run from April right through to September, so we can all maximise as much time in the water as we can! Im sure we’re all very keen to get back out and have fun this coming spring/summer.

The beach and water sessions are a total of 2 hours. Covering a variety of topics from beach safety and sea awareness skills, alongside water skills. Most importantly though is that everyone has fun. All our instructors are qualified beach lifeguards and ISA surf instructors with a real passion for surfing and have a full DBS check.

So if you’ve a child, or know someone who’s keen, we suggest you check out our page and get them booked in.

See you on the beach!
